Giving to St. Luke’s Church is simple and secure.
Psalm 50:10 reads: “The cattle on a thousand hills are mine.” (NCV) A pastor friend once added, “God also owns the hills, too!” It is helpful for us to remember that everything that is, is God’s. But we give because we believe God has entrusted us to be leaders for hope in our church and our community. Giving is a natural response from gratitude. When we are grateful, truly grateful, we want to give.
WHAT IS A “TITHE?”
The Bible says in Leviticus 27:30: “All tithes from the land, whether the seed from the ground or the fruit from the tree, are the LORD’s; they are holy to the LORD.” The tithe is the biblical guideline for giving. That is, giving 10% of what we earn back to God.
WHAT ARE “OFFERINGS?”
An offering is a gift given to a specific need above and beyond our tithe.
James 1:17 reminds us that “every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above…” As we in turn give back to God, we reflect our trust that God will continue to provide for us everything we need. Giving also allows us to join with God in God’s holy work here on earth in establishing the kingdom of Heaven here on earth.
Giving here at St. Luke’s is easy and safe. Whether your gift is a one-time offering, or ongoing tithing, please know that your gifts matter – to your Church, to the World, and above all, to God.
